Allyship is a concept pioneered by the LGBTQ+ community. Being an ally requires actively dismantling the systems that privilege one group over another. We will share lessons from other movements. This training will help you determine what additional steps you can take as an ally to empower survivor leadership and provide you with Survivor Alliance’s unique framework for empowering survivors. You will walk away with practical tools that will help you engage survivors meaningfully and ethically.

Survivor voice and active participation has the potential to transform the anti-slavery field. Our perspectives are more than just trauma stories – survivors have insight into wider issues which influence our present and future not just our past. At this event, survivors will speak out about issues that contribute to shaping their current and future lives. This survivor-designed and delivered interview panel will introduce survivor perspectives, current priorities and future recommendations.
After the panel, we will release a survivor-created publication.

For case workers of survivors

MH training.jpeg

This workshop is addressed to caseworkers of survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery. The focus is on what survivors wish their caseworkers knew about trauma. This workshop is an initiative of survivors who have had frustrating experiences when working with their caseworkers. It will give you an idea of the key points to consider when you work with survivors, taking the audience through the different effects of trauma on individuals and the best ways to cope with it. This workshop has been designed by survivors and will be delivered by them.

Suggested donation of £20, no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Survivors and Allies welcome

LGBTQ forum.jpeg

Survivor Alliance takes an intersectional approach to oppression. This means that multiple forms of oppression overlap with each other. A survivor’s experience is defined by their race, religion, gender and sexual orientation. Not enough discussion has taken place in the anti-trafficking movement about addressing the specific needs of LGBTQ+ survivors. Please join us for a conversation focused on: “What do you wish the anti-trafficking movement did differently to show support for LGBTQ survivors?”
