Use of Photos & Video Recordings

Background

Survivor Alliance is looking to create new narratives about survivors of human trafficking around the globe. As you may know, public images of survivors are often sensationalized and depict victimization (e.g. people in chains, people as barcodes, etc.). We want to show that survivors are leaders who live and thrive in our community and the world. We want to create a new narrative about survivors by offering new images and stories for the sector from our perspective.

To aid in this, Survivor Alliance will be taking photographs and saving video and sound recordings of online sessions during the World Congress from September 30 to October 4, 2024. This will help us spread awareness and to showcase our collective power and the impact of the collaborative work being done by survivors and allies.

Informed Consent Form for Live Streaming, Video Recording and Publication

We have requested and collected consent forms from all participants attending in-person. For those who are registering online, your consent will be requested for each virtual session when you register.

Photographs

With your consent, visual media taken during the conference that include you:

  • May be published in Survivor Alliance online and print publications and/or shared on social media.

  • Will not name you unless you desire and consent to have your name(s) shared.

  • Will not center your face without your explicit consent.*

  • Will be retained for Survivor Alliance use only and will not be sold or shared with anyone else.

  • If used for fundraising purposes, will receive your explicit consent, with information on the specific funding request and donor that we’d like to share it with. We will also share with you any commentary related to the photo and/or the context in which it will be used.

*If you participate as a speaker, moderator, or panelist during the conference, you will be requested to share a headshot with us to use for the World Congress Program. This is optional and not compulsory.

Video
Most World Congress panels will be live streamed and the live stream will be recorded. Although the video will feature the panelists and/or presenters, you might show up in the background of a video. Therefore, we cannot guarantee to anyone that they will be excluded from video. On the program, we will list which sessions are live streamed and recorded. Everyone will be provided with a lanyard to indicate if they prefer NOT to be recorded. This will be taken into account but we cannot guarantee that you will not be in the background of the recording.

We will live stream and record some World Congress sessions to document the event and share the insights and discussions with a broader audience. Remember, many survivor leaders and allies could not attend but wanted to. The live stream will be broadcast using Zoom. Recordings will be published on YouTube and may be used on the Survivor Alliance website and social media channels for promotional, educational, and archival purposes.

Additionally, videos may be taken throughout the World Congress during lunch, breaks, and other activities. This will help us create a short video after the event with highlights from the World Congress. This video will be shared on social media and other Survivor Alliance media. This video might show participants interacting in the event activities.

Publication of content from World Congress presentations and discussions

We will be documenting the conversations and presentations during the World Congress for dissemination purposes. If we need to quote a specific presenter or audience, we will contact you for additional approval and consent before any publication.
